AP Minister Allays Fears Over Bird Flu

Amarvati: Andhra Pradesh Government on Thursday allayed fears among the people over the outbreak of bird flu following which the sale of poultry birds in the State has crashed. Minister for Agriculture, Dairy Development and Animal Husbandry K Atchan Naidu told the media here that they have remained on high alert and are taking stringent action to control the situation.
He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu earlier in the day held a review meeting on the steps being taken with the Joint Secretary, Union Veterinary Department and consulted some scientists. Joint Secretary of the Livestock Department from New Delhi will visit the State tomorrow after deputing several teams to bring the situation under control. He said after receiving reports on the outbreak of bird flu in the Gampalagudem region of Badampudi in West Godavari district and parts of Krishna district, they had taken timely action in culling the affected birds.
